Ubiquiti PBE-2AC-400 | airMAX PowerBeam 2AC 400
A 2.4 GHz point-to-point bridge for outdoor wireless backhaul runs where 5 GHz struggles to penetrate foliage, walls, or other obstructions.
Why this one
- 450+ Mbps real TCP/IP throughput on 2.4 GHz means you get usable backhaul capacity on a band that carries further and punches through vegetation better than 5 GHz links.
- The 18 dBi integrated dish focuses the signal into a tight beam, which reduces interference from neighbouring networks and extends usable range compared to a flat-panel antenna.
- A dedicated 5 GHz management radio keeps configuration access separate from the data link, so you can adjust or troubleshoot the bridge without dropping the connection you're working on.
- The included 24V passive PoE adapter powers the unit over the same Cat cable that carries data — no separate power run to the mounting point.
Good fit if you need to bridge two buildings or structures across a path with trees or partial obstructions, and a clean line-of-sight 5 GHz link isn't reliable.
Worth considering something else if you have a clear line of sight and need higher throughput — the LBE-5AC-LR or NS-5AC operate on 5 GHz where spectrum is less congested and throughput headroom is greater, and both sit in the same price band.
What you'll also need
A second PBE-2AC-400 for the far end, outdoor-rated Cat5e or better between the unit and your network equipment, and a compatible PoE switch or the included 24V passive PoE adapter at each end — note this unit uses passive PoE, not 802.3af, so a standard PoE switch will not power it without the supplied adapter.
