Ubiquiti U6-MESH | UniFi 6 Mesh | WiFi 6 | GbE | PoE
A dual-band WiFi 6 access point that mounts indoors or outdoors and extends a UniFi network without running cable to every location.
Why this one
- IPX5 weatherproofing and a –30 to 60 °C operating range mean it installs on an exterior wall, under a pergola, or in an unheated shed without a separate enclosure.
- The 4×4 MU-MIMO radio on 5 GHz supports up to 4.8 Gbps throughput, so the wireless backhaul to a wired AP doesn't choke the clients hanging off it.
- Six spatial streams across both bands let it serve 250+ clients simultaneously — useful in a warehouse or hospitality setting where headcount spikes.
- At 13W max draw it runs on standard 802.3af PoE, and a PoE injector ships in the box, so you can be up before a PoE switch arrives.
Good fit if you're filling a coverage gap between a wired AP and a hard-to-cable outdoor area, or building a mesh layer across a site where trenching or conduit runs aren't practical.
Worth considering something else if your mounting point already has a cable run — the U6-PRO (same price band, ceiling-mount form factor) gives you a dedicated 4×4 radio on 5 GHz with no wireless backhaul overhead, which makes better use of a wired uplink.
What you'll also need
A UniFi gateway or Dream Machine running UniFi Network 6.0.45 or later, at least one wired AP or switch to act as the mesh root, and outdoor-rated Cat5e or better if you're running a cable to the nearest mounting point — the PoE injector is included for a single-drop install, but a UniFi PoE switch (such as the USW-LITE-8-POE) is the cleaner choice once you have several APs.
