Why this one

• Eight GPON ports each support up to 128 client ONUs, so a single unit can serve a network of up to 1,024 fibre subscribers without stacking additional hardware.
• GPON is a passive optical architecture — no powered equipment is needed between the OLT and the subscriber, which reduces both failure points and ongoing power draw across the distribution network.
• Managing the OLT through UISP gives you subscriber provisioning, traffic shaping and service-plan assignment in one interface rather than a separate OSS.
• Rack-mounted and designed for head-end or equipment-room deployment, so it fits naturally alongside routers, switches and upstream aggregation gear.

Good fit if you're an ISP, WISP or large-site operator that needs to provision fibre internet to a substantial number of endpoints and want to manage the whole access layer inside the Ubiquiti ecosystem.

Worth considering something else if your subscriber count is small or your budget is tight — the UF-OLT is head-end infrastructure at a corresponding price point, and a smaller fibre deployment may not justify it.

Compatible UFiber ONU or ONT devices at each subscriber premises, single-mode fibre cabling with passive optical splitters between the OLT and the endpoints, SFP GPON modules for each active port, and a UISP server or controller to manage provisioning and service plans.
