A compact 8-port PoE switch for desktops, walls, or anywhere a full-size switch won't fit — powered directly from a PoE++ uplink or an AC adapter.
Why this one
- The base unit ships without a power adapter, drawing power instead from a PoE++ uplink port — which means one cable in, seven PoE+ ports out, and no power point required at the mounting location.
- At 203 × 76 × 33 mm and 320 g, it mounts flat on a wall, sticks to a steel surface magnetically, or sits on a desk — useful when the switch needs to live somewhere a rack never will.
- All seven downstream ports deliver up to PoE+ (30W each), so it can power access points, cameras, and IP phones without a separate injector at each device.
- Layer 2 management through UniFi Network (version 8.0.28 or later) means VLANs, port profiles, and traffic stats sit in the same dashboard as the rest of your UniFi gear.
Good fit if you have a PoE++ uplink available — from a UniFi switch like the USW-ENT-8-POE or similar — and need to extend PoE to a small cluster of devices in a location where running mains power isn't practical.
Worth considering something else if you need more than 42W of total PoE output from a single cable feed, or you want a power adapter included in the box — the USW-ULTRA-60W and USW-ULTRA-210W are variants of this hardware with adapters bundled, and both sit in a higher price band.
What you'll also need
A PoE++ uplink from an existing UniFi switch, or a separately purchased AC or 60W PoE adapter to power the unit; a UniFi controller (Cloud Gateway or self-hosted) running UniFi Network 8.0.28 or later to manage it; and Cat5e or better to each connected device.
