Why this one

• The 3x optical zoom (F 4.1–12.3 mm) lets you switch between a 109.9° wide view and a tight 35° field without any digital quality loss — useful when one camera needs to cover both a wide approach and a specific entry point.
• The 1/2" sensor paired with built-in IR illumination delivers usable night vision to 25 m; add the G5 Vision Enhancer (UACC-G5-ENHANCER) and that extends to 40 m.
• IP65 weatherproofing handles jets of water and dust ingress, so it mounts directly to an external wall or pole without a separate housing across the full -20 to 50 °C operating range.
• At 10 W it runs on standard 802.3af PoE from any UniFi switch; only if you add the Vision Enhancer does it step up to 12.95 W and require PoE+.

Good fit if you need a single camera to cover a space where the subject distance varies — a car park entrance, loading dock, or building approach — and you want the flexibility to zoom in on a specific zone without repositioning the mount.

Worth considering something else if the mounting point is fixed close to the subject, where the G6 Turret (UVC-G6-TURRET-B / UVC-G6-TURRET-W) covers a wide field at shorter range without the bulk of a bullet housing, or if you need pan-tilt-zoom across a large open area, where the G6 PTZ (UVC-G6-PTZ-B / UVC-G6-PTZ-W) is the more capable option.

What you'll also need

A UniFi Protect NVR — the UNVR or a Dream Machine with Protect built in — a PoE switch or injector, and outdoor-rated Cat5e or better to the mounting point; wall, ceiling, and pole mounts are included, and the G5 Vision Enhancer (UACC-G5-ENHANCER) is sold separately if you need the extended 40 m night vision range (note: adding it requires a PoE+ port rather than standard PoE).
