Ubiquiti PBE-M5-400 | airMAX PowerBeam M5 400
A 5 GHz point-to-point bridge for linking two buildings or sites across distances up to 25 km without laying cable between them.
Why this one
- The 400 mm dish focuses signal to a 25 dBi gain antenna, which is what allows the 25+ km link range — useful where a direct fibre run is impractical or cost-prohibitive.
- 150+ Mbps throughput over that link is enough to carry full-bandwidth VoIP, CCTV streams, and general data traffic between two sites simultaneously.
- The passive PoE power method draws only 8W, and the included 24V adapter means no additional power hardware is needed at the mounting point beyond a GPO.
- Wind survivability rated to 200 km/h, salt fog tested to IEC 68-2-11, and UV-stabilised polycarbonate housing — it stays mounted and functional in coastal and exposed rural locations.
Good fit if you need to bridge two buildings with a clear line of sight, don't want to trench or lease fibre, and the span is anywhere from a few hundred metres to several kilometres.
Worth considering something else if your link distance is short (under a few hundred metres) or you need multi-point coverage rather than a dedicated point-to-point path — a standard access point or a NanoStation M5 (NS-5AC) would be a better match for those scenarios.
What you'll also need
A matched unit at the far end (two PBE-M5-400 units make one complete bridge), outdoor-rated Cat5e or Cat6 to each mounting point, and a clear line of sight between the two locations — the pole mount is included with each unit.
