Ubiquiti U6-IW | UniFi 6 In‑Wall | WiFi 6 | GbE | PoE
A wall-mounted WiFi 6 access point with a built-in 4-port switch, designed for per-room deployments in hotels, serviced apartments, and dense office fitouts where a cable run already reaches the wall plate.
Why this one
- The built-in 4-port GbE switch means one cable in feeds both the AP and up to four wired devices in the room — a TV, desk phone, PC, and IP handset can all connect without a separate switch on the wall.
- Six spatial streams (4×4 on 5 GHz, 2×2 on 2.4 GHz) across a 115 m² coverage area handles 250+ clients, which is the real constraint in a hotel corridor or open-plan floor.
- WiFi 6 MU-MIMO and OFDMA let the radio serve multiple clients simultaneously rather than sequentially, which matters in rooms where every guest has a phone, a laptop, and a tablet all connected at once.
- It draws standard 802.3af PoE for the AP itself; passing PoE out to a connected device (a desk phone, say) requires PoE+ on the upstream port, so check your switch before planning that use.
Good fit if you're fitting out individual rooms or offices where a single cable drop needs to serve both wireless coverage and a handful of wired ports, and you're running UniFi Network to manage the fleet.
Worth considering something else if you need outdoor or high-humidity coverage, or if you're covering a large open area from a ceiling — the U6-PRO mounts overhead and covers more ground without the directional wall-plate form factor.
What you'll also need
A UniFi Network controller (any UniFi gateway or a self-hosted instance), a PoE switch or injector on the upstream run (PoE+ if you intend to power a device from the built-in switch port), and Cat5e or better to the wall plate; the mounting hardware is included.
