Why this one
- Six spatial streams (4x4 on 5 GHz, 2x2 on 2.4 GHz) let the AP serve multiple clients simultaneously rather than queuing them — the difference between 250 clients coexisting and 250 clients waiting.
- The 160 MHz channel support on 5 GHz is what pushes the 4.8 Gbps headline figure; in a lightly congested spectrum environment, that headroom translates to genuinely faster throughput per client.
- At 13W maximum draw, it runs on standard 802.3af PoE — no PoE+ switch required, so it fits into most existing UniFi switch deployments without an upgrade.
- IP54 weather resistance means it can go in a covered outdoor area, a warehouse or a plant room, not only a climate-controlled office ceiling.
Good fit if you're covering a large open-plan office, retail floor or hospitality venue where a single AP needs to handle 100+ concurrent clients and you want WiFi 6 performance without stepping up to a PoE+ requirement.
Worth considering something else if you're covering a smaller room or corridor where the U6+ handles the client count comfortably, or if your deployment needs tri-band or 6 GHz coverage — the U6-Enterprise adds a dedicated 6 GHz radio and a 2.5 GbE uplink for denser, more demanding environments.
What you'll also need
A UniFi Network controller (any Cloud Gateway or Dream Machine running UniFi Network 6.0.45 or later), a PoE switch such as the USW-Lite-8-POE or USW-16-POE, and Cat5e or better to the ceiling mounting point — no PoE injector is included in the box.
