A weatherproof Gigabit Ethernet repeater for running a PoE-powered device up to 1 km from the nearest switch, where standard 100 m cabling falls short.

Why this one

• Standard Ethernet tops out at 100 m; this repeater extends that to 1 km over a single cable run, so you can reach a gate camera or remote access point without laying fibre or adding a switch cabinet.
• It receives PoE/PoE+ from the upstream switch and passes 22.5 W of PoE through to the connected device, meaning one cable still delivers both data and power to whatever is at the far end.
• IPX5 weatherproofing and a -40 to 80 °C operating range mean it mounts outdoors at the mid-point of a cable run without needing an enclosure.
• Built-in surge protection rated to 10 kA and ±30 kV ESD tolerance guards the run against lightning-induced transients — relevant on any exposed outdoor cable between buildings.

Good fit if you need to reach a UniFi camera, access point or access reader that sits more than 100 m from your switch and your upstream switch already supplies PoE or PoE+.

Worth considering something else if your run is under 100 m and a standard PoE switch port will reach it directly, or if the device at the far end draws more than 22.5 W — the passthrough PoE budget won't cover higher-draw hardware like the AI PTZ camera.

What you'll also need

A PoE or PoE+ capable switch or injector at the source end, outdoor-rated Cat5e or better for the full run, and the UniFi device you're extending to — the repeater ships with its own mounting hardware.
