Why this one

• The quad-core Arm Cortex-A53 processor handles AI inference locally on the hub, so the lens itself stays compact and the NVR isn't carrying that processing load.
• Dedicated Theta lens and Theta audio ports mean the lens and any AI Theta Audio unit connect directly to the hub rather than needing separate PoE drops at the mounting point.
• The hub draws up to 12.5W over PoE and outputs 5V DC at 1A per port to power connected lenses and audio, so a single cable run to the hub powers the whole Theta assembly.
• The 0.96" LCM display gives you a local status readout without pulling up UniFi Protect, which is useful during initial installation before the device has fully adopted.

Good fit if you're building any AI Theta deployment — the hub is a mandatory component of the system, not an optional upgrade, so if you have an AI Theta lens, you need one of these.

Worth considering something else if you're looking for a standalone camera rather than a modular system — the UVC-AI-TURRET or UVC-G6-DOME are self-contained 4K cameras that need no separate processing hub.

What you'll also need

At minimum, an AI Theta lens (UVC-AI-THETA-A or a full UVC-AI-THETA kit) to connect to the Theta lens port, a UniFi Protect NVR (UNVR, UNVR-PRO, or a compatible Dream Machine), and a PoE switch or injector to supply the hub's single GbE RJ45 port.
