Why this one

• The 10G SFP+ WAN port terminates a fibre service directly — no separate media converter needed if your ISP hands off on SFP+.
• IDS/IPS runs at 5 Gbps on a quad-core Cortex-A73, so deep packet inspection stays on at full-gig speeds rather than becoming a bottleneck you disable.
• Four 2.5 GbE LAN ports and a 10 GbE RJ45 mean you can connect multi-gig switches and APs without a separate switch for a small deployment.

Good fit if you have a fibre WAN service with an SFP+ handoff — or plan to — and want a standalone gateway with real threat inspection throughput in a desktop footprint managed through UniFi.

Worth considering something else if you need PoE across more than one port or are running more than a handful of devices, in which case the UCG-MAX or UCG-FIBER offers a more integrated starting point, or the UDM-PRO adds rack mounting and greater PoE capacity for a larger site.

What you'll also need

A UniFi Cloud Key or self-hosted UniFi Network application to manage it (it's an independent gateway, not a Dream Machine), an SFP+ transceiver matched to your ISP's fibre handoff if not already supplied, and a PoE switch such as the USW-LITE-8-POE if you need to power more than one downstream device.
